City of Freedom: Two hot nights at the Amsterdam Sportswear Weekend

The Ladzparty - one of the last big sportswear parties in Europe that was still on our bucket list. We had been tempted by the idea of attending for a long time. But somehow the dates of the bi-monthly party never really fit into our calendar. Until now! This November, as part of the Amsterdam Sportswear Weekend, the time finally came.

A lot experienced in a short time

The guys from ASW (Amsterdam Sportswear Weekend) have put together a fantastic program. From social events to Mister elections to sightseeing and of course partying – the weekend offered an attractive mix. Unfortunately, we were “only” there from Friday to Sunday, which in retrospect was too short. But even in these three days we experienced so much that we still look back on it with a big grin. Our adventure began immediately after our arrival on Friday evening at the “Sneaky the Party” in the legendary Eagle Bar. This party, which normally takes place early in the evening (5 p.m. - 10 p.m.), was announced as an XL version for the Sportswear Weekend. The location? Typical Amsterdam charm – in a narrow, multi-story building in the middle of the tourist hotspot. Narrow, winding and full of character. Next to the bar there was a small dance floor and – for those who like it hotter – a spacious darkroom in the basement. What impressed us particularly: everyone adhered to the dress code. No matter whether you saw familiar faces or new acquaintances, it was great to socialize in such an authentic atmosphere. Of course, there was plenty of action too: in the nooks and crannies of the club, you could see guys sniffing sneakers and socks, flirting, groping and... well, you know. But there was no real party atmosphere (at least for us), as there was hardly any dancing and it was quite cramped and stuffy. So after a long socializing session, we decided to head for the next destination: the nearby gay sauna.

At the parties we had a great time and didn't take any pictures. Luka wore this outfit to Ladz ;-)

Lycra, cruising and a home party

Things got hot in this sauna – in the truest sense of the word. A small highlight: on this particular evening, it was also allowed to cruise around in Lycra gear instead of a towel. For us, it would have been even better if we could have had fun in the pool in soccer gear, for example. But that's complaining at a high level. Nevertheless, the sauna scored points with cool vibes, cleanliness and a well-mixed crowd. We two shrews have already visited a few saunas. This one definitely belongs in the upper ranks of our popularity ranking! Typical for Amsterdam (as we were later told), Grindr led us to one of the legendary house parties late at night. Within minutes, we found ourselves somewhere in one of these narrow, steep houses – and let's just say: what happened there will stay between us.

The highlight: Ladz party

Saturday evening was the big moment: we were finally at the Ladz party in The Church club! Our expectations? They were definitely fulfilled. The club was bigger and more diverse than the Eagle, with a vibrant dance floor on the ground floor and a play area upstairs where things got going quickly. The dress code? Here too, almost without exception, boys in sportswear. Most of them wore football kits and clubs like Paris Saint-German could definitely have formed a whole team. The audience? Sexy, diverse and with a lot of sexual energy - guys from 18 to 50, all in hot sportswear and, above all, in a good mood. The last time we saw such a nice crowd was in Paris at the Players Party. There is a report about it here . For us, it was a perfect mix of partying and messing around. While Luka was diving to the driving techno beats on the dance floor, Vinc grabbed a hottie and the two of them were having fun pretty early in the evening. It's hard to describe how satisfying it is to passionately mess around in a corner while there's an erotically charged, electrifying atmosphere all around. That's exactly the spirit we love!

Despite long nights, there was still some time to stroll through the city of Amsterdam.

Our conclusion: Amsterdam, we'll be back

Tired but endlessly happy, we set off on our return journey on Sunday. The intense days at the Amsterdam Sportswear Weekend left an impression. This event is a great mix of community, party and fun and an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves sportswear. Whether it's the bi-monthly Ladzparty or the next sportswear weekend - if you have the chance, pack your hottest outfits and head out. Amsterdam showed us that the city is not only beautiful, but also incredibly lively and cosmopolitan. We will definitely come back - and maybe for a few days longer this time. Finally, our likes and dislikes: Likes:

  • Clear and consistent dress code concept : Especially at the parties, it was great to see that everyone really celebrated the sportswear fetish.

  • Varied program : The combination of social events, parties, sightseeing and Mister elections made the sportswear weekend particularly appealing. Everything is perfectly explained on the website - great effort from the organizers.

  • Inviting atmosphere : The community was open, sexy and authentic - meeting old friends and making new contacts was very uncomplicated. There was just a good mood. In our opinion, that is not the case everywhere. The bartenders and security guards were all nice. We don't know that from Berlin.

  • The Church as a party location : A club that was very well designed for our needs with a perfect crowd made the night a highlight.

  • Smoking ban in the premises: Smoking is strictly done outside - a relief compared to the Berlin smoking parties

  • Card only: No coins and no stupid tokens. You can pay everywhere conveniently by card - that's how we like it. Most football shorts don't have pockets. That's what we want for Darklands in Antwerp, for example.

Dislikes:

  • High costs in Amsterdam : The prices for accommodation, food and travel are definitely at a level that you have to plan for.

  • Cloakroom situation : At both parties there were only hangers. It was freezing cold outside and if you wanted to change, there was hardly any room and it was quite difficult to put everything on the hanger. Tip: Take an empty backpack with you.

  • Two parties on Saturday: There were two parties on Saturday night. This meant that the kinksters were spread out and we missed some of the hotties from Friday in the Ladz.

  • Mister election: The Mister Sportswear Netherlands election wasn't really our thing. In general, we don't understand why Misters have to be chosen everywhere. The election was mainly in Dutch, which meant that we could hardly follow the interviews and performances.

  • Time pressure : Three days were not enough to really see everything. Next time: stay at least one day longer!
